As an artist, I don’t begin with an image - I begin with a feeling, and music is often the doorway. In Minneapolis, the presence of the artist known as Prince isn’t memory; it’s atmosphere. And for anyone who experiences music with more than their ears, no matter where they are, that presence is unmistakable. He existed beyond flesh and bone; he was emotion in human form. When I created the painting Purple Sonata, I painted from that understanding. Now you can wear it.
